Big Foot is an updated concrete/footing pier modified to fit the specific soil and climate conditions that exist in our Kansas City area.  You can think of it as a new footing that is 12 times bigger than your current one.  Bigger is always better.  In addition, after 25 years of installing the BIG FOOT, we have never had to replace one.  Therefore, that makes us very certain that you will have the same experience.  In fact, we guarantee it.

How did you get yourself into this situation?  Relax.  It happened because of forces beyond your control because of the capability of your original footings.  Like most home construction, footings are undersized at the time of construction and after years of wet and dry conditions they can fail.

Steel vs Concrete Piers?

A competing solution today is a method using 3 or 4 inch steel shafts, instead of our BIG FOOT method.   Theoretically, the steel shafts are driven to bedrock.  And that one is not enough. A steel pier is recommended every 4 to 6 feet.  While these steel pipes are cheaper per unit, it takes a lot to hold up 20 to 50 tons.  But the sad truth is that these steel piers fail to reach bedrock.  Can you imagine your home setting on a small 1/4th Sq. Ft. steel tube set in clay or on a small rock instead of a 12 Sq. Ft. footing that has 40 times more area?
